There comes a point in every life when the noise gets too loud—the world’s expectations, the weight of mistakes, the quiet ache of wondering if you’ll ever find your way back.

The One Who Believed: Every Life Turns When It Decides To is more than a novel. It’s a transformational story based on true events from my own years of homelessness along the boardwalks of Venice Beach and Santa Monica. I changed the names and shaped the journey into fiction—but every heartbeat in this story is real.

For ten summers I sang songs I wrote myself, told jokes when my throat was too sore to sing, and spoke to strangers about letting go of fear. I survived with nothing but hope—and the world’s largest cardboard “Tip Box” that said: LQQK INSIDE. Inside was a message that kept me alive: YOU CAN FEED ME.

Those years—and the prayer that pulled me through them—became the seed for this book.

Ethan Wells, the story’s main character, carries the same heartbeat: a man standing at the edge of surrender, learning that healing begins not in fixing others, but in witnessing himself. Through a coin marked Begin, a whispered phrase in a dusty bookstore, and a rhythm of breath—in two three, out two three—Ethan learns what I eventually discovered on those California streets:

Every life turns when it decides to.

Why This Story Matters

  • It’s for the friend who’s lost faith in themselves.
  • For the dreamer who gave up too soon.
  • For the quiet believer who needs one more reminder that light always returns.

This book is a mirror for anyone standing in the fog, unsure which way to turn.
It’s fiction, yes—but written from the pulse of lived truth.

Read It. Share It. Gift It.

If you know someone who needs to see hope reflected back at them, The One Who Believed is the story to hand them. Let it remind them—and maybe remind you—that beginnings are always available.
